I've developed a general acceptance that every gameplay attempt does not have to be a do-or-die performance on my part, and I've relaxed a bit as a result. For example, on certain arcade titles, I play with less anxiousness and fear then I did years back.maybe "fear" is not the best word to use, so I'll say "cautiousness" instead. Or, as Walter often says, it could be due to the "wisdom" you gain from gaming experience compensating for lowered reflexes.
My eyesight w/o glasses is WAY off from 1982, the last time I played arcade games without glasses (I managed a 993K on "Tron" with some squinting back then, but have no prayer of doing so w/o glasses now, squinting or not.īut, the reflexes are still there. I can tell by how frequently I made certain key "cuts" in the trench back when I played at Funspots 1999-2002 as well as MoA 2001, as well as how I handled the tie fighter stages. In "Star Wars" my dexterity is still way up there, but my proficiency is lacking. In "720" there was a way to jump off the course and basically create a program failure as the designers and testers did not take gamer's innovativeness and propensity for glitch abuse into consideration. You would imagine that 3 rings means a minimum of 3 segments. The goal being to blow thru the rings and hit the center enemy, and the bonus dependant on how few ring segments you needed to destroy in order to do this. Gamers know that there are rings surrounding the enemy ship in the center of the screen which rotate in opposite directions. Take "Star Castle", a very old classic from I think pre-1981. Some programs will either crash or behave strangely when faced with numbers they are not programmed to handle. after this, enable the cheat, then alls you have to do is insert the credit, and jump once and it'll act as if you jumped the number of animals you selected. Go down to "data", and change the number to how many animals you want to jump. Hit tab, go to "cheats", then go to "add/edit a cheat", then go to "jump 4 animals every time", and hit enter.

Thanks to a good person I know (goes by the name of ne146 on #retrogamers), and whoever submitted the zoo keeper cheat.dat, ne146 told me how to get the point values using the cheat.dat, so I'm not taking any credit for this, just posting it (I'll start at 10 animals jumped):ġ8 and beyond = odd characters scroll across the screen and the game freezes.ĭon't believe me?
